Rs 25mn allocated for RTI implementation

 

A total budget of Rs 25 million has been allocated by the Ministry of Mass Media towards RTI implementation in Sri Lanka. This budget will be used for trainings, materials development, creation of resource centre and any other expenses necessary for RTI implementation, says BKS Ravindra, development and planning additional secretary to the Minister for Mass Media.

 

The Ministry has also been approached by third parties to fund RTI implementation. Currently, the UNDP has proposed funding for development of manuals in relation to training RTI officers.

 

The projected 2017 budget for the Ministry of Mass Media and Parliamentary Reforms is Rs 3.3 billion
